After a long trajectory editing in small independent cdr labels and netlabels, "Armiarmak", his first cd, marks a new debut for the musician from the Basque Country. A compilation of tunes almost exclusively composed from sounds obtained by a mixer used as an instrument, without any kind of additions but a pair of microphones connected to this one, which register its "human activity", and the sinewaves extracted from a simple oscillator. Other tracks, like "Acuphenos" (demonstrated as one of his oldest compositions) or "Itapoa", a collaboration with the musician Rafael Flores, gather the interrelation with another type of tones more traditionally musical. The two parts (or sides) of the album follow the interest of generating independent compositive macrostructures that'd tack the long play of a complex work in its variety and microsonic details.

The first time that I saw Kakofunk playing live, it made me think of the music Sachiko M would have made after spending 16 hours in a factory working hard. En este disco quedan recogidas partes de unas sesiones de improvisación entre los tres experimentados músicos vascos. En ellas, Bazterrak, Izarzugaza y xedh se lanzan de forma muy unitaria a la exploración de un universo de ruido eléctrico y electrónico, en una faceta introvertida, sutil, incluso íntima, pero que sabe también muy bien poner francamente a prueba el clima de silencio y quietud que ellos mismos crean. Discretos mantos casi hipnóticos de fondo y, en momentos especialmente delicados, velos aureales, sustentan el aliento de distintas capas de sonido en conectividad, a pesar de las frecuentes y súbitas interpelaciones ruidistas indómitas, rígidas y extirpadoras. Una obra de una tensa calma, siempre bordeando el precipicio con suma precisión, que despierta a un diálogo desacostumbrado las partículas de la corriente sonora.

Closing Time is an enormous project directed by Iñigo Cabo, composed by a book and a film recorded in 3 countries (Spain, France & Ecuador) with more than one hundred artists from all the world participating in, including names like Jose Luis Brea, Iñaki Imaz, Iñaki Garmendia or Asier Mendizabal.
Miguel A. García was called to participate in the soundtrack with a new track called "The cube", used in the film during the short fragment directed by the extraordinary filmmaker Robert Todd. You can listen to the whole track at the soundtrack section of the DVD.

XEDH "LE CHARME DISCRET" AT RE:MAPA

RE:MAPA is a project runned by Audiolab Arteleku in collaboration with Luz Maria Sanchez focused in the interpretation/transformation of a collection of field recordings that the aforementioned artist made in the Basque Country during the year 2001. At this moment, there are contributions by basque sound artists like Xabier Erkizia, Alex Mendizabal, Iñigo Telletxea, Mattin, Tzesne, DJ Amsia and many more.

Xedh is contributing with the track "Le charme discret", based on a recording made in his home-town, Vitoria-Gasteiz. Helping him in this work are Alba Burgos, that contributes with a painting and his voice; and Elena Aitzkoa, with a beautiful text.

The track "Documento clinico" composed by Xedh & Raun (the evil alias of Raul Dominguez) is featured at the "50 Bpm or less Vol. 1" compilation made by the USA label Canned Beef Records.
The track was later re-visited and published at the Baba Llaga´s debut album "El ultimo viaje de Vasilissa".

This compilation includes track by artists like C-Drik, Rafael Flores, Ghoul Detail or Xdugef, and it´s released as a CDr with standard jewl case.

COMPOSITION IN RED, a new EP by XEDH, is out now at the netlabel Camomille.

This it´s the most complex piece from Xedh ´til date, with influences rangin´ from minimalist IDM to Schonbergnian atonalism.

It was originally composed as a soundtrack to a multimedia performance celebrated at Arteleku (Donostia). For this release, the composition was remastered and re-edited.

As a gift, the videos for the performance by Sara Paniagua.
